Nib customisation to cursive italic

Please read: this is a nib customisation service. It does not include the nib. You must order a nib separately or else arrange to send your pen/nib to us for modification but please email us before placing your order to check that we can complete the work on your pen.

This modification will create an italic-style nib from a standard round nib. We recommend starting with either a medium or broad nib but a fine nib can also be modified although the line variation will be correspondingly less. We do not recommend modifying an extra-fine nib although we will be happy to do one on the understanding that not much line variation can be achieved.

A cursive italic nib is similar to a calligraphy nib but has rounded corners to allow normal handwriting (unlike a dip pen nib that requires great care and skill in letter formation). Greater line variation is achieved compared with a stub nib.

Please allow an extra week to 10 days for delivery when ordering a custom nib as all custom nibs are produced to order.

Shipping cost
UK postage is FREE over £35 but otherwise starts at £1.80 for small items (converters, refills etc) or £3.30 for ink, stationery etc.

Overseas shipping starts at only £4.00. The exact cost varies by price, weight and delivery country so to find out your final shipping cost just add the item to your shopping basket and select the delivery country. You don't have to enter any personal details - just an e-mail address but this isn't stored unless you create an account. We offer a choice of shipping services from Royal Mail and DHL.

VAT (at 20%) is automatically taken off for destinations outside the UK. Note that if you are ordering within the EU you will have to pay VAT when your parcel arrives.

Availability
If an item is in stock, the words "In stock" will be shown. If an item is out of stock, the approximate number of days before we get another delivery will be shown instead. You may still be able to order the item, but there will be a delay before we can dispatch your item(s). If the words "Please enquire" are shown, it's best to check with us first before ordering.

Nib choices for fountain pens
If we show the pen with the default nib selection shown in stock it means we have stock of that pen. If you select another nib size and the website doesn't say "in stock" we can usually supply that pen immediately as we keep extensive supplies of nibs from all our manufacturers.
