If you have a fountain pen in need of service please email us first with a description of the pen and any problems you are experiencing. A photograph is often very helpful if the pen is damaged in any way.
Please note that we only offer this service in the UK.
We will ask you to send the pen or pens to our workshop, you can include anything that you would like us to take a look at. Please securely package your pens well enough to stand the rigours of the postal system and use an insured postal service such as Royal Mail Tracked 24/48 or Special Delivery. Please also include a note so that we know who it is from.

Once we have received your pen we will email you to let you know that it has arrived and has been booked onto our system and give you a time estimate and a cost estimate for the work required. In-house work will start when this has been agreed upon.
A straightforward service usually takes in the region of 3 weeks, and nib grinds 3-4 weeks. If your pen needs a repair this may take a little longer 5-6 weeks. Manufacturer repairs can take in the region of 2 months.
If you have sent a pen in for general service and more work is required we will discuss this with you before proceeding.
Should you decide not to proceed with the repair or if we do not have the required parts to fix your pen the pen will be returned and only postage will be charged
Please note that prices do not include postage - we will return your pen by Royal Mail Special Delivery which is a minimum of £9.00.

Should you decide not to proceed with the repair or if we do not have the required parts to fix your pen the pen will be returned and only postage will be charged.
If your pen repair is covered by the manufacturer's warranty please send this document in with the pen. We will send your pen to the manufacturer, manage the repair process for you and check the pen performance upon return. For this, there is a handling charge of £15 which includes postage both ways.
If you did not purchase the pen from The Writing Desk and are unable to return it to the retailer you purchased it from we may be able to assist you. Our handling fee for this service is £10 plus postage both ways.
We are sorry we are unable to help with warranty repairs to pens not purchased in the UK.
In the case of non-warranty repairs which need to be sent to the manufacturer and where the pens were not originally purchased from The Writing Desk, there is a handling fee of £10 in addition to the repair charge and postage costs both ways.
In some cases, we are able to indicate the repair cost before the pen is sent away and we will communicate this to you for your approval. Where this is not possible will provide you with the manufacturers' repair quote as soon as we are able.
