Lithographic artist Johann Adolf Rohrer (1850 - 1918) began the production of special graphic preparations in Leipzig 1892. His son Johann Adolf Rohrer (1880 - 1953) - who also studied lithography - continued the manufacturing of these specialist products and he and his partner Felix Arthur Klingner created Rohrer & Klingner Leipzig Co in 1907 and the company continues to this day under the same name.
Rohrer and Klingner produces many different types of ink in its factory in Zella-Mehlis in Thuringia, Germany. It is almost unique in its production of coloured iron-gall based fountain pen inks.
